Blythe Police captured a burglary suspect around 4 p.m. on Aug.14, in the 100 block of Cottonwood Lane. Police were sent to the location in reference to a burglary in progress that had been reported. According to police, a man was seen entering a residence where no one should have been home.

The responding officers checked the residence and found signs of forced entry. They entered the residence and found a man, later identified as Steven Guy, 41, of Quartzsite, Ariz., in the residence. Officers also found a pry tool and various items of property stacked next to the door.

Guy was arrested, and booked at the Blythe Jail for burglary. The case is being submitted to the District Attorney for filing of charges.

"This is a great example of how neighbors watching out for one another can help the Police catch these thugs," said Blythe Police Chief Steve Smith. "If you see something suspicious or out of the ordinary in your neighborhood, please call us at the police department and report it because just like in this case, you never know when it might be the real thing. Great job to the neighbor who took the time to call us."

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the Blythe Police Department at 922-6111 or they can give their information anonymously by calling Crime Stop at 921-CARE (2273) or by email at blythepd@cityofblythe.ca.gov .
