Donald Eugene Peek

Donald Eugene Peek, 59, passed away Feb. 16, 2014 at the Blythe Nursing Care Center with his family by his side. He was born Aug. 6, 1954 in Blythe to the proud parents of Gene and Evelyn Peek.

He was our "Light" - our "Earth Angel".

Donald graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1973. He became a full-time resident of Blythe Nursing Care Center (BNCC) in 1985 until he went to be with the Lord.

Donald was a proud Christian and lived according to the Holy Bible. He became a Deacon of Ehrenberg Community Church years ago before the church's closing. This was his dream come true.

He was a member of the Blythe Kiwanis receiving the "Kiwanian of the Year" award in October 1997.

The PVHS class of 1973 presented him with a plaque in November 1998 for 'Most Courageous Classmate'.

He was well known to the community and known by all with the "Loving Heart". Donald spoke often of his family, friends and classmates.

Throughout the years at the BNCC, Donald enjoyed helping his fellow residents. He taught many how to play chess, his favorite game. And he could also play a mean game of dominoes. He was well known by many who walked through the nursing home doors who came to visit family and loved ones. He could sense when a prayer was in need and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his sister, Gayla Hilton (Jim); niece, Shelly Crecelius (Cris); great-niece, Caylee; uncle, Marvin Peek (Peggy); many cousins, dear friends, and special friends, Becky King and Marcella Garnica.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Evelyn Peek.

Private burial will take place at Palo Verde Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of Palo Verde Cemetery, c/o Susie Forrest,

9330 4th Ave, Blythe, Calif. 92225.

A "Celebration of Life" service will be March 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church, 345 N. 3rd St., followed by a reception at VFW Hall, 148 N. 1st. St., Blythe.
