7/24/2013 6:00:00 AM LETTER: Bowling center thanked for generosity
Last weekend (July 12) I was on my way to Arizona with a group of 47 teenagers when our bus broke down. A youth minister's nightmare! Stranded for over five hours while we waited on a mechanic to travel from Los Angeles to fix the bus, we decided we needed to find an activity to entertain our teens.
After spending more than two hours in the McDonald's lobby, we came across Sunlite Bowling Center online. We called and spoke to the owner. We were welcomed in with open arms! Not only were they able to accommodate our group, they opened four hours before schedule to allow us to have this safe haven and provide an activity for our group.
Still stressed about funding this additional expense caused much anxiety for our leaders and I. We thought we had been blessed already, when the owner continued to shock us. He refused to take money from us and blessed our group with this amazing opportunity despite being stranded. Not only did he provide cosmic bowling and shoes for our group, he also brought out ice cold bottled water for our kids!
I highly recommend that everyone stop by Sunlite Bowling Center and tell them St. Raymond's sent you! This experience definitely restored our faith that there are great people out there.
