New Christie Minstrels in Q'Site Jan. 15
The New Christie Minstrels will be returning to Quartzsite again this January, with two special shows at the Q.I.A. Performances are on Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 per person and can be bought ahead of time at the Q.I.A. office during open hours.

Q'site police officer promotes to Army Lt. Col.
Major James Schultz was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army on Nov. 9. Schultz is currently serving a tour in the in the United States Army in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Christmas Light Parade Dec. 5 in Quartzsite
The 7th annual Christmas Light Parade will be held in Quartzsite on Dec. 5, starting at 7 p.m. The parade is sponsored by the Quartzsite Business Chamber of Commerce and will include floats of all kinds with a Christmas theme along with decorated vehicles, ATVs and much more.

Scholars' Academy Homecoming 2009
Although the Scholars' Football Team lost by one mere touchdown, the boys played hard and the game was exciting to see. The team was able to let out their frustrations of the loss on the dance floor after the game.

Dinner benefits Celia's Rainbow Gardens
The 13th annual spaghetti dinner benefit for Celia's Rainbow Gardens was held on Nov. 17 this year and we had a great turnout although it was down from last year.

Bell ringers needed in Quartzsite
One of the longest held traditions of the Salvation Army is its annual efforts to raise money to help the needy through their bell ringing efforts.

Operation Hero Comfort was founded in June 2006 by Doc and Anita Carlson to show support for our troops while they are in harm's way.

The 7th annual Quartzsite Christmas Electric Light Parade will be held on Dec. 5 this year and applications are now available for anyone who wishes to enter. The annual spaghetti dinner to benefit Celia's Rainbow Gardens is coming up on Nov. 17 at the Q.I.A. in Quartzsite.

Annual Hallowe'en Caravan on Oct. 30
The annual Hallowe'en Caravan for the children of Quartzsite will be held Oct. 30 this year due to the fact that the 31st is on a Saturday when school is not in session. Also planned for this month are two walk-a-thons -"Walk for Education" held by the Quartzsite G.F.W.C. (Woman's Club) and "Red Hat Runabouts of Quartzite" both on Oct. 24.

Date for Operation Hero Comfort benefit
Operation Hero Comfort will be holding their benefit for the troops on Nov. 14 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at Quartzsite Town Hall, which has graciously offered the use of their council chambers for this event, a fundraiser to help send packages to adopted units in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait.

Football team organizes community service project
The Scholars' Academy Football Team organized a community service project by cleaning up trash and weeds at the Hi Jolly Cemetery in Quartzsite. The cemetery is hidden behind the World Famous Main Event Swap Meet and may not always get a lot of attention.
