COLUMN: Is Obama a President we should respect?

Essay

Well, it has now been five years since I wrote a piece about our new President, Barack Obama. I was not impressed. Even then, I got chastised, because of racism, alleged. No way. Not then, and not now.

I had felt all along, as I heard him speak, that it would be a disaster. Now, I've been around long enough to know that one thing no politician is ever without is hot air. "We're gonna make history!" we were constantly told. Left unsaid was the missing part, which was, "because I am going to be America's first Black President!" And that was the theme, and I believed it to be as racist as anything I have heard.

As you know, there has been a multitude of questions, beginning with the topic of his citizenship. I can't for the life of me, see why the Democrats, themselves, did not consider this whole thing of his birth, before they even nominated him. They, unfortunately, didn't bother.

The first Executive Order signed by President Obama was #13489, signed January 21, a day after inauguration. It involves Presidential Papers. Keeping them secret. Of course, there are different interpretations of the intent here, but he apparently didn't want to wait very long after it was official.

"Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive," Walter Scott, 1808. Interesting. Of course, he couldn't have been referring to The President, but apparently was familiar with people with the same lack of morals and values.

Why should there even be a controversy? If a man has nothing in his past to hide, then why have the Democrats so securely covered his tracks, inviting the controversy in the first place? They knew, I believe, there would be questions, and they had their pat answer. "You are a racist!" for pursuing this question.

And so we have a divided nation. If you didn't vote for him, you were racist. And, I believe, that many people voted for him strictly because he was black, even though it was clear that his qualifications (that we were able to dig up) were not necessarily kosher. Again, his education records, and many other details of his life have been "closed".

I was told five years ago that I must respect the President. I do respect of the Office of the President, but I honestly cannot respect this man - or his wife, the First Lady. And it is not because they are Black. I did not respect President Clinton, or his wife, either. They are white. I was suspicious of his character from the beginning of his campaign, too. And I was right.

No President is perfect, or without sin. We all share that. But we should be able to respect the President whether we agree with his ideas or not. I cannot respect this man because of his actions and his attitude, reflective of the person.

How many lies has he foisted on Americans? Is this a President we should respect? I think not. Is this a president who sincerely loves America? Its people? Its values? Its Constitution, which has carried us so well all these years? I think not. Nor has he respected its Judeo-Christian heritage. And this is a man we ought to respect? I think not.

It is so sad that our first Black President is, as he promised, making history. Unfortunately, that history will not be as a leader of men and countries. His Presidency is destined to be the worst on record. His transparency promise, too. He and his rich cronies have taken over the media, thus hindering our people from really knowing what is going on.

Don't you kind of wonder why his Homeland Security has ordered billions of bullets? What explanation has been given? The Core Curriculum has become nothing more than an indoctrination program so our children will be raised without the truth of our history, without the love of country that is so important. Yes, even the bad stuff, so that we can learn certain actions and attitudes that should never be repeated.

Hatred and division is actively fostered in all aspects of life. The "melting" pot is not politically correct, so every group is pitted against every other group, and unrest is fostered and encouraged, so it will be an excuse for a military take-over.

Sound unbelievable? That is what they are counting on. I come back to where I was five years ago. I likened what was going on to the rise of Hitler, of Stalin, and all the other dictators in the world.

I was scoffed at. Remember the infamous passing of his "Affordable Health Care Act"? It was a created crisis, making it allegedly crucial that it be passed immediately, to save us. Nobody was given a chance to read it. It was deliberately excessively long and complicated, knowing Congress would not be able to read it in the time allowed. And look at the mess it has deliberately created.

Well, he has been given a chance. And he gets braver and more of a dictator every day. Respect this President? No way.

Not only the conservative Christian republicans but the whole republican party has been invaded by all the bigots and crazies, who are unable to accept that, a bi racial president is in office. Since President Obama is a democrat, which side do you think the all hate mongers ran to... The republicans. The republicans care more about trying to destroy President Obama, than the care about running our country. Can a democratic country, built on its peoples diversity, be run effectively when our congress acts like rabid dogs with only one thing on their minds ? I Think the answer is obvious. The 112th Congress passed just 561 bills, the lowest number since they began keeping these stats way back in 1947. Why ? because they can't see past the hate they feel. The rest of the country sees this too, just watch next elections. I'd be willing to bet that we finally get all democrats straight across the board. The republicans need to change their mascot to the dinosaur. lol

I do respect of the Office of the President," No, not all the time you don't Mr. Weete. You only respect the office of the President IF the president is someone you approve of. The last time I checked, this was not the United States of Weete. To coin a term, you are what I would call a fairweather patriot.

@....000 000. Thank You for comparing me with Walter S. I believe that he is a very knowledgeable and wise man. I hold him in high regards, even if I sometimes do not see things the same as he does.

@....Learn Something. Long Term Disability. I paid into it for over 15 years. Are you interested in investing into a policy? Or are you just being nosy?

The down fall is that it is not tax free. When I was working, I was also paying into Social Security and into Medical. And at the same time I was also paying into a disability policy.

I don't have insurance with medicare. I have an HMO insurance. I got to keep my Insurance. If that makes me a moocher, and out of touch then so be it.

My disability insurance tried to change me into Social Security Disability, but SSI would not take me. Because I have insurance. 2 years ago I got a letter from SSI stating that I was not eligible for SSI, because I had not worked and had contribute into SSI. So how do you like those apples?

Mr Weete, how can you go from such a hate filled rant one moment, to preaching supposed christian conservative values the next. There was a time when being a conservative Christian republican was a good thing. Nowadays we end up with irrational delusional hate filled individuals who have done way more harm than good, all while they profess their love of country and god. President Obama was elected because after 8 years of republican leadership leading to two wars and a failed economy, all we had left was hope that he'd be different. The republicans had left us nothing, not even hope. So yeah, he deserves some respect.

The total number of noncombatants killed by Hitleróabout 11 million
Stalin created the famine of 1930Ė1933, in which more than five million people died.
Does anyone agree with Mr. Weete. is President Obama on the same level as Hitler or Stalin ? The above facts scream, "No!"
And if you think that President Obama isn't going to be remembered favorably by history, you are sorely wrong. He will be looked at by young people as a source of hope and inspiration. He broke the 200 year old plus white man ceiling, yes kids you can grow up to become President and it really doesn't matter if you are white, black, brown, red, or yellow. Isn't this how it supposed to be?We are a diverse nation made up of many mixed races. Everyone's turn has to end sometime. It's what keeps the game fair. One side in power for too long, encourage feelings of self entitlements. You are elected officials, not God anointed for life. Mr. Weete your side lost along time ago perhaps you should put on your big boy pants now and stop crying. And apologize to the victims of Hitler and Stalin for your callous comment.

@....0o0 0o0. There you go again. You should have paid more attention to your father. He was trying to tell you, that he still loved you. Even if you were the opposite of smart. From an early age he knew you were out of touch.

You know, every time I read your words or the words of other people, that are like minded like you. One phase comes to mind.

No matter how hard we try. You can't fix stupid.

SSI is a welfare program, not Social Security Disability. Who do you have health insurance with, Medicare? All funded by taxes. I agree. "Out of touch" is a nice way of saying what you are.

@Walt Sleptke, You are confused, the FACTS, as you call them are not actually facts, they are in fact, your opinions. I see you attend the Pica Buyas school of intelligent thinking and stuff. I came here because Mr. Weete's essay offended me. He offends me by calling the President racist. Didn't those words,"Because I'm the first black president." originate only in Mr. Weete's head. It. offends me to have Mr. Weete compare President Obama to Hilter or Stalin. Ask holocaust survivors if this is comparison is accurate ? Maybe Mr. Weete is just clueless about the what the Jewish people suffered during the holocaust or how many people died of starvation during Stalin. Yes, rich people paying higher taxes in comparable to burning in ovens, or staving to death If Mr. Weete puts his thoughts out there, which it is his right. they are open for rebuttle. Which is my right. I have done that you disagree with me engage me in intelligent conversation with facts that are facts and not just your opinion's. We all know the comment about opinions ,ya everyone has one. Mr. Weete is wrong and comes a crossed as a man "out of touch".

@EL PICA BUYAS, This is just for you ole' buddy, my father told me once, "There are people who are so out of touch, that they don't know they are out of touch. So they ramble out of touch things." But my father didn't use the words "out of touch" he used the word opposite of smart. (deleted)

00000000 you've listened to the lie for so long that you believe it to be the truth and nothing else can change your mind. What I was trying to tell you is something very basic - there are 2 sides to every story. The side you choose is the one that you have been indoctrinated to believe, But don't worry we understand. Don't confuse you with the facts. You've already made up your mind.

@EL PICA BUYAS
I answered walt sleptke,
I posted 11 times, not 10 on the 7th of this month. Counting and putting words into thoughts can be hard for some.
Read the above it states,"we may limit your comment entries to five(5) per day" MAY being the operative word. Yes very interesting... not really.
Your repetitive kool aid remark and McCarthyism ideology tells me that you are the sheep. It is obvious that you are unable to come up with new ideas since the 1950's or for that matter a different catch phrase. You are stagnant. I guess every village has one.

@....learn something. I paid for my Disability Insurance. It's not SSI. So no tax payers money here. People that was a big mistake. Do not buy disability insurance. Become a moocher like "learn something". Live tax free and off the backs of hard working people. Just Joking.

@....000 000. You are just blowing hot air from both ends. Funny when other Muslim Counties are declaring the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist Obama is embracing them. That's your man?

@.... Steve P. I did not write anything about Iraq. It was that Big Zero. "000 000"

@El Pica: Yeah, the declaration of war with Iraq wasn't a slam dunk in either the House or the Senate. Quite a few Democrats voted to go to war with Iraq. If the voting would have been across the board Democrat to Republican. The House would have passed the resolution anyway, but the Senate would not have. So, weapons of mass destruction, maybe, maybe not. In a country with the land mass of California one could take a tanker truck of Anthrax spores and bury it in the desert with just some GPS co-ordinates and it is likely it would never be found. The Enforcement agencies are very active across the land, do they find all of the meth labs? I believe we need a more responsible Congress. It took a LOT to get this Country into WWII, it has taken less and less of a "threat" to get this Country to vote to go to War since then.
